Our 5th annual HEAL Day debuts “Turning Frowns Upside Down”. “Turning Frowns Upside Down” reinforces the incredible truth that every human is valuable and capable of making life brighter and better for themselves and others. Students from Barrett Elementary are highlighted during HEAL Day 2024. Alabama Public Television broadcasted this pre-recorded video. Thousands of students, teachers, and children highlighted the significance of Healthy Eating and Active Living by sharing photos of nutritious foods and physical activities on social media.

HEAL Day 2022 (our 4th annual) featured Baltimore Ravens star, Marlon Humphrey and students from Minor Elementary and Southminster Day School. Taylor Hicks, American Idol Superstar, was also featured. Students from around the state participated virtually.
HEAL Day 2021
The 3rd annual HEAL Day was hosted this year by Alabama Public Television, which broadcasted a prerecorded video across Alabama. More than 30,000 teachers, students, and families enjoyed an action-packed fifteen minutes of fun as we watched American Idol superstar and platinum recording artist, Taylor Hicks launch the new HEAL book and song, “ABCs the HEAL Way.” HEAL gave away 1,800 hard copies of the book to teachers and students, and made a digital copy available online to anyone.
HEAL Day 2020
In response to the pandemic, in 2020 HEAL opted to recognize HEAL day with a virtual celebration. Thousands of students, teachers, and children recognized the importance of Healthy Eating Active Living by posting photos of healthy food and activities on social media, by following along to the HEAL dance and participating in read-alouds and activities from The Ultimate Treasure Hunt. HEAL provided digital and “hard” copies of books, materials, and resources at no cost so that children and families could stay healthier during the lockdown.
HEAL Day 2019
In 2019 Government Ivey declared May 8th “HEAL Day,” and invited HEAL schools, staff, and volunteers to celebrate in Montgomery. Hundreds of school children from across Alabama joined us on the capital lawn to dance, play, and listen to Governor Ivey read The Ultimate Treasure Hunt, a children’s book written by HEAL founder and CEO Christy Swaid.
